The Great Bend Panther Bowling teams traveled to Wichita on Saturday, Jan. 9, to compete in the 27 Team Bishop Carroll Bakers Tournament. The Lady Panthers finished in 9th place. Team members included, senior Hanna Pfeifer; juniors, Allie Brodrick, Kylynn Keeler, McKenzy Black, and Elsi Miller; and sophomore Jordan Vsetecka.  
The Panther Boys Bowling Team earned the 5th place medals and were the highest finishing 5A – 1A team. The boy’s squad was led by senior Kendall Lloyd; junior Jacob Holden; sophomore Kameron Keener; and freshmen Jordan Black, Blake Sheets, and AJ Roberts.
On Jan. 12 the teams traveled to Dodge City and Holcomb. The Lady Panthers earned 8 out of the possible 11 points in their opening WAC contest in Dodge City on Tuesday afternoon. The team dominated their opponents and swept the medal count. Junior Allie Brodrick captured the gold medal with a high series of 508; junior McKenzy Black rolled a series of 501 for the silver; and senior Hanna Pfiefer took home the bronze with a series of 496. Team members include Pfeifer, Brodrick, Black, Kylynn Keeler, Elsi Miller and Jordan Vsetecka. The Lady Panther JV squad also swept the medal count and won 9 of the possible 11 points in their contest. Sophomore Sydney Soukup finished in 1st place with a series of 406, senior Alex Snyder was 2nd with a 397 series and sophomore Leigha Belote finished in 3rd place with a total of 381.
The Panther Boys team earned 7 out of the possible 11 points defeating both Dodge City and Holcomb. The team was led by junior Jacob Holden who rolled games of 259, 215, 212 for a 686 series and a 1st place finish. Junior Kendall Lloyd earned the 2nd place medal as he rolled games of 197, 236, and 224 for series total of 657. Varsity team members included, Lloyd, Holden, Brodie Owens, Kameron Keener, Jordan Black, and Blake Sheets. In JV action the boys also finished in the top two positions as senior Tylar Wagner finished in 1st place with a series total of 542 and junior Drew Reed brought home the silver medal with series total of 507.
Both the boys and girls bowling teams from Great Bend traveled to Garden City on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 19, to battle the Buffaloes. It was the Great Bend boys who rolled a score of 2919 and edged Garden City’s score of 2918 by a single pin to take the WAC points contest 6-5. Great Bend was led by junior Jacob Holden and senior Kendall Lloyd. Holden was the top performer of the day with games of 211 – 217 – 195 for a 1st place series of 623. Lloyd bowled games of 225 – 184 – 183 for a series total of 592 and a 3rd place finish.  
The Lady Panthers dominated their contest against the hots buffaloes. Junior Allie Brodrick was the shining star for the Panthers as she dominated the event from start to finish. Brodrick brought home the 1st place medal by rolling games of 216 – 203 – 257 for a series total of 676. The shot at Garden City was right up how Allie Plays. The lady Panthers earned 9 of the 11 WAC points as they out bowled their opponents by a score of 2682 to 2568. The Lady Panthers now sit in 1st place in the WAC standings with a record of 17-5.
The next action for both teams will be next Tuesday when they host their first match of the year against Liberal and Holcomb. The match starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Walnut Bowl.
