Great Bend Panther Bowling results

On Friday and Saturday, the Great Bend boys and girls bowling teams competed in the 30 team Great Plains Tournament which was held in Wichita.  Only the top eight teams qualify for the championship round. The Panther boys qualified in the 6th position and faced Wichita Heights who was the 3rd place qualifier. The format is then the best of 3 bakers games. The Panther boys defeated Wichita Heights in two games which earned them a place in the semi-finals against the #2 seed Garden City. The Panther boys came up just short and fell to their WAC opponents in two games. In the consolation bracket final Great Bend was defeated in two games by Junction City. The Great Bend boys made an outstanding run in the tournament after finishing the first round in 14th position. Team members included: Kendall Lloyd, Jacob Holden, Drew Reed, Kameron Keener, Jordan Black and Blake Sheets.
The Lady Panthers bowling team also had a strong showing at the tournament. The girls team finished the 1st round of the competition in 9th place. After bowling 12 baker games Great Bend was able to pass by Garden City and earn the 8th and final spot in the championship bracket.  Great Bend was matched up against the #1 seeded Campus Colts. The Great Bend girls bowled an outstanding game of 215, however Campus rolled a game of 235. In game two, it came down to the last ball for Great Bend. Junior captain Allie Brodrick had to throw a strike for a Panther win.  Brodrick made a perfect shot and Great Bend edged Campus by 1 pin 171-170. In the final game Great Bend came up short and Campus went on to the semi- final match. Lady Panthers team members include: Allie Brodrick, Hanna Pfeifer, McKenzy Black, Kylynn Keeler, Elsi Miller, and Jordan Vsestecka.  
Both Panther teams will be back in action this Thursday when they host Dodge City in a contest that will begin at 3 p.m.
