DERBY — Great Bend’s No. 3 state-ranked Cody Liles (132) won three matches to capture first place at the Derby Wrestling Tournament.
Liles (17-0) downed Justice Circle of Blackwell, Okla. 8-2 in the championship match after beating wrestlers from Derby and Kapaun-Mt. Carmel.
Great Bend’s No. 2 state-ranked Keaton Sander (138) finished second with a 7-3 loss to Goddard’s top-ranked Garret Lange in the championship match. Sander (17-1) beat wrestlers from Winfield, Valley Center and Derby.
Jose Batres (182) placed fourth and Eric Vazquez (120) placed sixth. The Panthers scored 71 points to finish 11th in the team standings.
