The Great Bend High School girls’ swim team placed fourth on Friday at the home invitational.
Manhattan won with 441 points. Andover placed second at 361, and Newton finished with 357 for third.
The Lady Panthers scored 344 points.
“I couldn’t be happier with how the girls performed,” GBHS head coach Steve Beaumont said. “Our relays really swam so well and individually we turned in a lot of great time improvements.
“The competition from Manhattan, Andover, and Newton was fantastic and just what we needed at this point of the season. Our girls swam tough and raced hard. I couldn’t be prouder.”
Hannah Hildebrand turned in the only first-placed performance for the Lady Panthers.
She won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 26.07. She beat the state-qualifying time by more than a second.
“Hannah Hildebrand really dominated the 50 free and she had a solid race in the 100 fly to finish second,” Beaumont said.
Hildebrand finished in second place in the 100 fly at 1:04.59.
Kira Cook had a pair of third-place finishes. The first was in the 100 freestyle (1:01.02) and the second was in the 200 freestyle (2:16.97).
Great Bend’s 400 freestyle relay team of Cook, Hildebrand, Michaela Cape and Katy Jerke placed third, touching in at 4:09.43.
