WICHITA — Jordan Hoffman finally won a state title in the Class 1A portion of the Class 6-1A State Track and Field Championships.
Hoffman has had some near misses in the past, but he finally made it over the hump, claiming a title in the 100-meter dash on Saturday at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Just because he won a title, it didn’t make things easier for him.
“It doesn’t really take any of the pressure off,” Hoffman said. “I am comfortable going into the 200. The 400 is the one I have some competition going into.”
Hoffman turned in a time of 49.72 seconds in the 400 dash. He topped Boone Cady of Osborne by .02 seconds.
After the close call, Hoffman’s day wasn’t over. He had another race to go.
“Towards the end of my 200, I’m usually pretty tired,” Hoffman said. “I’m definitely eager to get back on that podium.”
He ran a 22.28 200 dash to claim his third and final title of the state meet.
