HUTCHINSON — It came down to the wire for Great Bend High School's girls' swim team, but the Lady Panthers edged Andover at a Hutchinson meet.
Great Bend finished with 489 points, narrowly topping Andover's 481.
Hutchinson finished in third at 465, El Dorado placed fourth at 339 and Rose Hill dropped to fifth at 103.
"This was as fun meet," GBHS head coach Steve Beaumont said. "The lead changed several times. We were down by three to Andover going into the last event but finished first and fourth in the 400 (freestyle) relay to win.
"We had some good time improvements in several events.  The girls swam well."
Michaela Cape, Kylee Spray, Katy Jerke and Hannah Hildebrand combined to win the 400-meter freestyler relay with a time of 4:17.15.
Hildebrand also won the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 6:05.18.
