It will be a repeat of last season’s first-round game of the Glacier’s Edge Girls Basketball Tournament in Emporia.
Last season, the Great Bend High School Lady Panthers opened against Topeka High, the same two teams that will tip off at 4 p.m. today at the EHS.
Great Bend (4-6), which has been idle since beating Larned at home nine days ago, is the fifth seed in the eight-team tournament. Fourth-seeded Topeka High is 5-4.
“We also played Topeka High last year in the first round Emporia tournament,” Great Bend head coach Jason Tatkenhorst said. “They worked us around pretty good.
“We’re fairly evenly matched record-wise, but if we don’t do the right things, Topeka High has the type of players that can make things difficult.”
