COLBY — Larned High School’s Kaiden Reed finished third and qualified for his second consecutive Class 4A state wrestling tournament at the Salina Bicentennial Center.
Reed (33-12) was seeded fourth in the 285-pound weight division and finished 3-1 in the Colby Class 4A regional. Reed pinned Buhler’s Braden Redenbaugh in 2:28 and was pinned by top-seeded Jason Zook of Chapman in 2:50 in the semifinals.
Reed rallied to beat McPherson’s Michael McKinney in 2:07 and upset third-seeded Ethan Jay of Colby in 5:00 for third place.
Larned’s Marcus Nolde (113), Dalton Barker (132), Skyler Hoch (195), Seth Hutchins (220) also competed in the regional.
Hutchins was one win away from qualifying for state. Hutchins (18-16) finished 2-2 and was pinned in 2:00 by Colby’s Austin Hart in a match to qualify for state.
