LIBERAL — Liberal scored five goals in 15 minutes to roll past Great Bend’s soccer team 6-2 in Tuesday’s Class 5A soccer regional. Brian Galindo and Carlo Daniel Franco scored Great Bend’s goals. Galindo beat goalie Ramon Hernandez on a penalty kick. The Panthers finish with a 6-11 record.
Great Bend goalkeeper Joshua Rodriguez turned back some threats early. Liberal’s Brian Alvarez and Eliel Gonzalez each scored twice and Johnny Del Val added a goal for a 5-0 halftime lead. DelVal’s pass to Alvarez for a header set up his first goal. Mike Fronseca scored Liberal’s sixth goal.
