HILLSBORO — Larned freshman Colton Massey played even-par 70 to capture medalist honors at the Central Kansas League golf tournament at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course. Massey carded five birdies and eagled the 479-yard par 5 eighth hole to offset seven bogeys.
Larned’s Michael Reece shot 78 and placed third while winning a three-hole playoff against Michael Hendricks of Sterling. Larned’s Jake Zimmerman (84) placed 12th. Duskin Bowman’s 91 also counted for Larned. Larned finished runner-up (323) to champion Hesston (319). Larned competes Monday in the Class 4A regional at Goodland’s Sugar Hills Golf Course.
Ryan Broeder placed 16th (87) to lead Hoisington, which placed eighth with a score of 386. Hoisington plays Monday at the Class 3A regional at Norton’s Prairie Dog Golf Course.
