OTIS — The Otis-Bison High School boys’ basketball team went into the final eight minutes tied at 41 with Macksville on Tuesday night.
The Cougars were able to outscore the Mustangs 17-15 to edge the defending Class 1A Division-I state champions 58-56.
Trevor Keller led Otis-Bison with a game-high 24 points, scoring 15 in the second half.
Dylan Wissman added 11 points for the Cougars, who took third place at the Class 1A D-II state tournament last season and is ranked No. 9 in their class in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll.
Macksville was led by Adam Oak, who finished with 15 points.
Seth Filbert added 14 points.

HAYS — Derrick Kaiser scored a game-high 27 points, including shooting 7 of 8 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to ice the game down the stretch.
Cody Stetler added 15 points for the Cardinals in the Mid-Central Activities Association win over Thomas More Prep-Marian.
Jacob Fouts led the Monarchs with 15 points.

ELLINWOOD — Kyle Blakeslee scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double in the overtime win over Mid-Central Activities Association foe Larned.
Larned led 21-7 after one quarter, but Ellinwood tied the game at 58 before outscoring Larned 12-5 in the extra period.
Gavin Vink scored a career-high 14 points, Kale Clawson had 11 and Cody Isern finished with 10 for the Eagles.
Jahman Hill led the Indians with 19 points, scoring 11 in the first quarter.
