WICHITA — Isaac Seibert of Macksville High School qualified for three events in the Class 1A portion of the Class 6-1A State Track and Field Championships at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
Seibert guaranteed a spot on the podium by finishing in the top 8 in both the 110-meter and 300 hurdles on Friday.
He took it step further on Saturday.
Seibert cleared 14 feet in the pole vault to claim a state title.
“Finally,” Seibert said. “That’s how I feel. This is my third year. I got third my freshman and sophomore years.
“Finally, after all of the hard work I put in, I got to the top of the podium.”
The long trip tot he top of the podium was Seibert’s second time of the blocks at the state meet.
In the 110 hurdles, Seibert finished with a time of 15.75 for fourth place.
“It’s not very good,” Seibert said. “I’ve gotten in the high 14s a few times. I took fourth.”
Seibert said that earning the title should help him heading into the finals of his other event.
“It gives me good self-esteem, so hopefully I can take that to the hurdles,” Seibert said.
Seibert placed third in the 300 hurdles in a time of 41.11.
