SHARON SPRINGS — Wallace County halfback Luke Schemm scored four touchdowns and rushed for 209 yards before collapsing on the sidelines after a successful 2-pointer against Otis-Bison. A few hours later, Schemm died in a Denver hospital.
Wallace County broke a 20-20 tie with 45 consecutive points for a 65-20 victory over Otis-Bison in the Eight-Man 2 football playoffs.
Otis-Bison’s Nick Higgason, Brad Lightfoot and Kade Urban scored touchdowns for a 20-20 tie. But the Wildcats scored six consecutive touchdowns.
Higgason led the Cougars (8-2) with 57 yards and Urban gained 56 yards. Bryce Maneth and Hayden Maier each had five tackles.
