ELLINWOOD — The first Run for Hope benefitting Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation was deemed a success by organizer Taunya Schlessiger of Ellinwood.
It is hoped that it can become an annual event.
“I felt very pleased with what was accomplished for Kans for Kids. I would like to thank all of the businesses and individuals who sponsored the Run For Hope. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped make it such a success,” said Schlessiger. “ God blessed us in so many ways for this event, everything from the beautiful weather to all the wonderful people who participated and helped with the 5k/10k run/walk. We had 124 participants the morning of the run and 142 had registered all together!”
Schlessiger’s son, James, was one of the many Barton County children who has received emotional and financial support from Kans for Kids. Diagnosed at age 5 with a rare tumor, James is now 10 and cancer-free.
