COLDWATER — St. John’s boys secured the top seed at the 1A Little River regional with a 57-51 non-league basketball victory over South Central. St. John (15-4) earns a bye next week and could play South Central again in two weeks for a berth at the 1A state tournament at Dodge City.
St. John’s Marshall Woolf busted loose with 21 points and a trio of 3-pointers. Eddy Calleros scored 14 points and Mason Osborne added 11 points. Wolf scored 12 third-quarter points. The Tigers played without leading scorer and rebounder Tanner Halling.
South Central (16-3) was paced by Owen Alexander with 16 points.

MACKSVILLE — Mustang Karson Waters stayed on fire with 30 points and nine rebounds to spark Macksville past Otis-Bison 71-48 in Tuesday’s Central Prairie League basketball game.
Macksville (15-4, 5-3) secures the top seed at the 1A Jetmore regional scheduled Feb. 18-23.

NESS CITY — The Central Plains Oiler tandem of Brett Liebl (21 points) and Alex Hickel (19 points) dominated inside to help the Oilers clinch the Central Prairie League title with a 62-45 victory over Ness City. Liebl grabbed a season high 16 rebounds. Devin Ryan contributed 13 points and seven assists.
The Oilers (19-0, 7-0 CPL) will be the No. 1 seed at the Sylvan Grove 1A regional.
