Stafford Trojans lose to Norwich

NORWICH — Stafford quarterback Jake Simmons threw for 324 yards for four touchdowns in a 62-32 football non-district setback to Norwich Friday. Receiver Jimi Oleson broke school records with 12 catches and 201 yards receiving with two receptions going for touchdowns.

Simmons completed 18 of 29 passes and rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown. Tuff Pope intercepted a pass with a tackle and five assists. Axel Ortiz contributed five tackles and three assists. Stafford (1-5, 0-2) plays at South Barber (5-1, 2-1) Oct. 13.

Kinsley baseball wins twin bill KINSLEY — The Kinsley/Macksville baseball team (5-1) overpowered Sublette 13-2 and 16-1 for a pair of run-rule victories Thursday. Kinsley plays at Pratt Skyline April 10. KINSLEY 13, SUBLETTE 2 (G1) — Kinsley's Woodrow Lancaster sparked s run-rule victory with four RBI. Joshua Stuckey (1-0) earned the victory and drove home three runs. Parker Burr drove in two runs. Diego Esparza, Trenton Anderson and Devin Murrow drove home runs. Sublette's pitchers walked eight batters and hit two batters with five errors that led to five unearned runs. KINSLEY 16, SUBLETTE 1 (G1) — Kinsley converted 14 walks, four hit batters, nine wild pitches and four errors into a run-rule victory. Kinsley scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. Murrow drove in three runs and Kendall Grippin drove in two runs. Anderson, Anthony Meza and Hector Gomez had RBI. Trenton Anderson (1-1) earned the victory.
