HOISINGTON 67, CIMARRON 20
CIMARRON – Hoisington quarterback Tony Moore completed three touchdown passes to Mason Martin and threw for 161 yards and four touchdown aerials in a resounding 67-20 football victory over Cimarron in 2A, District 7. Hoisington (8-0, 4-0 District) will play Phillipsburg (4-4, 1-3, -29 points), which survived a wild 3-way tiebreaker with Hays TMP (4-4, 1-3, -28) and Russell (3-5, 1-3, -30 points).
Martin caught 11, 14 and 26 yards touchdown passes. Mason Alderdice caught a 35-yard touchdown strike after racing for a near-record 97-yard run on the final play before halftime to the Cimarron 2-yard line. Ian Smith scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.
The Cardinals rushed for 404 yards. Alderdice gained 117 yards, Teron Kraft 114 and Moore 82 yards.
As usual, Hoisington scored a defensive touchdown as Jason Robinson scored on a 75-yard interception return among his three interceptions. Kalob Lamb and Rhen Galla recovered Cimarron fumbles.
Cimarron quarterback Trace Kopper threw for 157 yards and completed touchdown passes to Payton Dye and Holden Kite and gave the Cardinals trouble all night by escaping pressure to complete desperation passes. Kite also scored on a 1-yard run.
