Youth baseball tourney concludes with division champions crowned

The Great Bend Recreation Commission sponsored the NBC Baseball Points Tournament, which concluded on Sunday.
The tournament hosted 31 teams in Great Bend participating in pool play brackets on Saturday at Veterans Park fields, Brit Spaugh South fields and Harms ball fields.
The elimination brackets began on Sunday morning at 10. Championship games were played on Sunday afternoon at Veterans Fields beginning at 4.
Teams represented in the tournament were from Great Bend, Hays, Larned, Salina, Wichita, Manhattan, Hutchinson, Spearville, Goddard, Ottawa, Lakin, Dodge City, Anthony, and McPherson.
In the nine-and-under pool play bracket, the Barton Bandits and the Hays Predators were 2-1 going into bracket play on Sunday. The two teams met in the championship game with the Predators taking the championship.
The Barton Bulldogs won the 10-and-under division championship game against Southwest Hitters.
The 11-and-under division featured a seven-team bracket, and the Wichita Gators defeated the Hays Braves in the championship game.
In the 12-and-under division, the Midwest Stix won the championship game, defeating the Southwest Hitters.
The Dodge City Dodgers finished off Ottawa County in the 13-and-under division for the championship.
In the 14-and-under division, the McPherson Jr. Pups defeated the Great Bend Panthers in the championship game.
The Great Bend Recreation Commission will be the host for the 11-and-under NBC Baseball Tournament on July 8, 9 and 10.

Cardinal softball wins pair PRATT — Ellinwood's softball team lost a softball doubleheader to Pratt Skyline 16-11 and 11-1 Friday. Skyline (5-1) dropped Ellinwood to 0-6. Ellinwood plays Ellsworth April 14. SKYLINE 16, ELLINWOOD 11 (G1) — Ellinwood's Anna Hahn drove home three runs. Bennett Jacobs, Shyria Quintana and Kyndal Moore each drove in a pair of runs. Down 9-1, Ellinwood rallied with a 7-run fourth inning. Moore and Quintana scored on groundouts. Makynna Bryant scored on Gail Zollinger's single. Jacobs doubled home Zollinger and Jenaveve Franco. Moore doubled home Jacobs and Kennedy Behnke. Skyline's Corbin Armstrong doubled twice and drove home three runs. Kory Anschutz doubled three times and drove in two runs. Grace Hoffman and Ashley Spease each drove in two runs. Five Ellinwood errors led to eight unearned Skyline runs. SKYLINE 11, ELLINWOOD 1 (G2) — Elllinwood's Quintana drilled a homer for the Eagles' run. Skyline's Anschutz hit a 2-run homer, ripped a 2-run double and drove home five runs.
