One of the many ways that Realtors® strengthen communities and the lives of their neighbors is through volunteer work, and since 1983 the Great Bend Board of Realtors® has been doing such. Through either the Board as a group or as individuals, local charities have received a monetary donation or volunteer time from many members of the local Realtors® association. As part of the National Association of Realtors® efforts to help improve local communities the Great Bend Board of Realtors® is initiating a new program that gives local charities the opportunity to receive a $1,000 donation for their organizations benefit. Each quarter nominations will be taken and a new recipient chosen to receive the award. The charity receiving the award this quarter is the Barton County Area Habitat for Humanity. “The Association chose the Barton County Area Habitat for Humanity to receive this first award because Habitat represents what our industry is all about, the opportunity for home ownership”, said Rick Sateren, President of the Great Bend Board of Realtors®. “The Realtors® Association takes great pride in our community and is always looking for ways to help out and help up it’s an integral part of who we are.” Directors Kevin Keller, Roger Sell, John Jaco and Wayne Rathbun with Treasurer Keela Jackson, Vice President Jeff Keller, and President Rick Sateren present Kim Vink – Barton County Area Habitat for Humanity Board Member with the donation.
