This summer, students from Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming will attend an all-expenses paid educational retreat at the annual Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colo. The Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp builds leadership skills, facilitates meaningful connections, teaches students about cooperative principles, and creates memories to last a lifetime.
Zoe Jerke, Junior at Great Bend High School and Ryan Thompson, Junior at Syracuse High School, were selected to represent Wheatland Electric at the 44th Annual Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp. Jerke and Thompson were awarded this trip after a competitive selection process which included writing an essay, taking an exam, and interviewing with a panel from Wheatland Electric’s Board of Trustees.
“Wheatland Electric is proud to be a participating sponsor of the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp and send our local youth to develop essential leadership and teamwork skills,” said General Manager Bruce Mueller. “Through this trip, our students will take the time to learn how electric cooperatives work and how co-ops and their employees support the communities they serve.”
