Listings, updates sought for 2014 Official Kansas Visitors Guide

The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, & Tourism is currently accepting updates and listings for Official Kansas Visitors Guide. The guide is an annual publication and will features digital, mobile, and tablet editions to keep pace with the changing travel planning habits of Kansas visitors.
Kansas tourism officials commented about the publication: “The Guide inspires the decision to visit specific places, delivers the advertising messages travelers take most seriously, and primes them to carry out online research.”
Local businesses, organization and events interested in being part of the 300,000 copy publication should contact the Great Bend Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB). The GBCVB is the DMO (destination marketing organization) that maintains and updates the Great Bend listings on the TravelKS web site. The online listings determine what will be in the printed guide.
Tourism impacts the Kansas economy by about 5.46 billion dollars each year. The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism provides these statistics about their annual guide:
• In 2011, 68,306 Official Kansas Visitor Guide inquiries were made.
• 58% of visitors surveyed spent extra time in Kansas because of what they read in the Guide.
• Information in the Guide influenced 75% of visitors to see or do more in Kansas.
• Nearly 75 percent of each tourism dollar spend in Kansas is retained in Kansas.
