This red, white and blue quilt with three eagles is featured in a raffle for Golden Plains Quilts of Valor that starts Saturday, July 13 and runs through the last Friday of November. Another patriotic quilt will be for sale this Saturday at the Great Bend American Legion Auxiliary’s ninth annual Hawaiian Luau Fundraiser at 1011 Kansas Ave.

Members and guests of the Great Bend American Legion are invited to say, “Aloha!” and attend the Legion Auxiliary’s ninth annual Hawaiian Luau Fundraiser on Saturday, July 13, at 1011 Kansas Ave.

Tickets are $15 at the door but can be purchased for $12 this week when the American Legion is open, after 5 p.m. daily.

The front door opens Saturday at 6 p.m. for dinner that includes Aaron Delgado’s pulled pork and chicken. The ham, scalloped potatoes, baked beans and many other sides and desserts will be furnished by the auxiliary.

Dance to the music of The Locals Band — John Stettinger, Michael Stettinger, Ron Bailey, Daryl Hertel and Bob Jarmer — starting at 8 p.m.

There will be a live auction at intermission, with proceeds going to veteran organizations and to Golden Plains Quilts of Valor, who make unique commemorative quilts for area veterans.
