Eleanor Tammen will celebrate her 90th birthday with a family dinner in McPherson.
Eleanor was born on May 10, 1921 near Albert to Fred and Mattie Folkerts Hemken. A resident of Albert, Larned, and Colorado Springs, Colo., she was a nurse’s aide and homemaker. On Aug. 27, 1941 she married Leonard Tammen near Albert. He died March 12, 2009. She enjoys music and playing the organ, church activities, traveling, gardening and children. She has two children, Glenn and Ronda Tammen in McPherson and Loretta Stephenson, wife of the late Ramon Stephenson, of Rozel; six grandchildren, Tammy Sandersfeld of Warsaw, Mo., Dr. Anita Freed of Salem, Conn., Carol Stephenson of Rozel, Greg Tammen of Manhattan, Becky Tammen of Lawrence and Amanda Tammen of Manhattan; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Freed and Owen Freed, both of Salem, Conn.
