Fern Ochs Axman will celebrate her 90th birthday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Cedar Park Place in Great Bend. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
Fern was born on Oct. 23, 1921 in LaCrosse to Chester and Ollie Crotinger. She grew up on a farm south of Bison. On Oct. 5, 1941 she married Orland Ochs in Otis. He died on March 4, 1959. On July 18, 1970 she married Sylvester Axman. He died on July 27, 1970 in South Carolina. She raised four children on a farm northeast of Otis and moved to Hoisington in 1963. She has three children, Charlotte and Ron Schneider of Great Bend, Linda and Alan Bartonek of Salina and Orland Ochs Jr. of Hoisington; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. In 1993 she lost a daughter, Margaret.
