Helen Lorenz of Great Bend will celebrate her 90th birthday with a reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on July 16 at the St. Mark Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 2101 Jackson, in Great Bend. Hosts for the event will be her children, Anita Roberts and family of Fort Collins, Colo. and Ken and Donna Shaffer and family from Great Bend.

Helen Lorenz was born on July 29, 1921 on a farm near Otis. She was a school teacher at a one room school house, a secretary at Otis High School and a retired cook from Rush County Memorial Hospital and a retired librarian from the Bison Library.
