Rufus P. Fimple will celebrate his 90th birthday with a card shower.
He was born March 3, 1921, in Bacca County Colo. After graduating from Sterling High School, he attended Kansas State University on a track scholarship, until being drafted for military service. He married LaWanda Warren on his first furlough home in 1943. They came to Great Bend to live after serving four years in the Army Air Force. He retired from the First National Bank in Great Bend after 20 years as vice-president. He and LaWanda were the parents of sons Robert and Andrew. LaWanda passed away Oct. 7 1992. On Jan. 14, 1995, he married Phyllis Ankerholz of Lyons. Family members are a sister Viola “Dolly” Harrison of Sterling, son Robert and his wife Karla and their daughter Kristin, son Andy and his wife Laura, his son Travis and his daughter Kaitlyn and her sons Jayven and Jaxson. He has numerous step-children, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
