Eugene “Gene” Batt of Hoisington will celebrate his 80th birthday on Dec. 1 with a card shower.

Gene was born on Dec. 1, 1942, at St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend to Robert and Alice Batt. He is married to Dorothy Batt. They have four children, Diane and Ron Durland of Great Bend, Doug and Stacy Dolechek of Hoisington, Debbie and Max Folk of Anchorage, Alaska, and Denise and Eric Schmidt of Claflin, and 12 grandchildren. Gene was employed as a farmer, by Amerine Utility, Susank Oil Company and Essex.
