The Family Crisis Center is ALWAYS just a phone call away – with 24/7 availability. The toll-free number for the 24-hour crisis line is 866-792-1885 or call 620-792-1885 in Great Bend.
There is also a Kansas Statewide Hotline for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking: 888-END ABUSE (888-363-2287).
Kylee Graves became the new executive director of the Family Crisis Center Inc. on Feb. 14. The FCC’s office at 1924 Broadway Ave. in Great Bend houses the Domestic & Sexual Violence Center and the Child Advocacy Center.
Off-site, there is a shelter in Great Bend and the organization just opened a shelter in Larned. The locations of the shelters are not made public for the safety of the clients. All services provided by the FCC are 100% confidential, Graves said.
They are also working on a new website but the public can still access the current one at familycrisiscntr.org. One feature already on the website is a “quick exit” button so a user can leave the page immediately and quickly navigate to a more generic page.
Per the FCC website:
“It is estimated that since the beginning of the agency, we have provided services to over 25,000 survivors in central and south-central Kansas. Our families, our neighbors, our friends and we make up those numbers. We are the faces on those numbers.”
The Family Crisis Center Inc. serves 12 counties, the nearest being Barton, Ellsworth, Ness, Pawnee, Rice, Rush, and Stafford. There is also an office in Pratt.
The vision of the Center is for communities to be empowered by awareness, resources and accurate information, Graves said.
The Domestic and Sexual Violence Center (DSVC) serves all victims and survivors of abuse and we believe everyone deserves to live a life free from violence.
The Family Crisis Center Shelter strives to provide a healing, confidential living space to all survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence respecting survivors’ individual experiences, choices and strengths.
The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides professional, collaborative relationships with partners as well as compassionate services to children and families who have experienced abuse, while holding perpetrators accountable through community awareness prevention education.
