Bradley Baker

LINDSBORG — Tenor Scott Wichael and pianist J. Bradley Baker will perform at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery. Wichael is a faculty member from Emporia State University and Baker is on the Tabor College faculty in Hillsboro. The concert is a part of the Sandzen Gallery’s 2017-18 chamber music series.
Praised for his expressive voice and versatile stage presence, tenor Scott Wichael has appeared on stages throughout the United States with a repertoire ranging from Mozart to Carlisle Floyd. Recently, Wichael returned to the Asheville Lyric Opera as Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha and the Rimrock Opera as Pong in Turandot. In 2014, he debuted the role of Little Bat in Susannah with the St. Petersburg Opera and returned to the Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus. Throughout his career, he has performed many roles in operas of distinction.
Wichael is also an active concert soloist, performing in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Stainer’s The Crucifixion, Rachmaninov’s The Bells, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass.
Pianist J. Bradley Baker enjoys an accomplished career as a soloist, collaborative pianist, vocal coach and educator. A dynamic soloist, Baker has performed in concert halls throughout the United States and Canada. As a collaborator, he has worked with hundreds of musicians. Dr. Baker is also a passionate arts educator and has held teaching appointments at the University of Alabama, University of Texas at Tyler, Stillman College, and Judson College. At Tabor College he teaches music theory, directs the Music Preparatory School, and coaches vocal students.
