Neal Slack of Pretty Prairie will celebrate his 80th birthday on Aug. 10. His family is requesting a card shower in his honor.
Neal was born near Oxford. He began his teaching career in Great Bend as the speech/English teacher and co-director of musicals at Harrison Junior High School from 1964-1966. He then moved to Plains where he taught speech/English and directed school plays at Southwestern Heights High School from 1966-1971. He was a long-time English teacher/play director at Kingman High School from 1971-1992; Kingman High School assistant principal 1992-1994; Pretty Prairie High School principal 1995-2003.
His family includes his wife of 59 years, Mitzi; children, Kelli (John) Thissen of Herington, Darin (Lori) Slack of Oakley; grandchildren, Chelsi (Mitch) Myer, Camron (Karenah) Thissen, Emma Slack (July Jost), Estin Slack, Ellis Slack; great-grandchildren, Serenity Myer, Melody Myer, Jamie Myer, Damien Myer, Nikolai Myer, Carter Thissen, and Cora Thissen.
