LARNED — Fort Larned Chapter of the NSDAR met on Dec. 10 at Jordaan Library. Regent Merlene Baird called the meeting to order. Vice Regent Donna Campbell led the group through the DAR Rituals.

Cathy Schoonover shared information from National Defender; Saving Warriors and Rescuing Dogs off the DAR website, written by Kristin Khanna from the Marion Jefferson Chapter in Florida. K9s For Warriors founder Shari Duval created the program to help her son Brett Simon who is recovering from PTSD following his two tours in Iraq as a bomb dog handler, who was contracted with the U.S. Army. He now works with her as the president for K9s for Warriors.

Donnitta Plowmann’s program was on her trip to Spain several years ago.

The next meeting will be January 14 at the Jordaan Library in Larned.
