Preceptor Pi Chapter’s 2023 Valentine Queen is Karen Reif. During her 17 years in Preceptor Pi, Karen has served in many positions, but she shines as the Service chairperson, leading her chapter in many interesting projects. After retiring from CUNA Mutual, she now has time to keep up with the activities of her and husband Gary’s four grandchildren and indulge her passion for crafts of all kinds.

Members of Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi enjoyed two special events this month. Service Chair Karen Reif led a project to decorate 50 paper sacks for Valentine’s Day. After filling them with candy, they were delivered on Feb. 14 to residents of River Bend Senior Living.

On Feb. 15, members met at Mizumi’s for a delicious lunch and Reif was revealed as the 2023 Valentine queen. She was presented with a crown, a crown pin and a yellow rose.

Lois Johnson gave a program on the many household uses for salt, such as cleaning silk flowers, stainless steel, and wine stains from a table cloth. It can be mixed with olive oil to remove moisture rings from furniture and with water to use as a gargle for sore throat.

Susan Brown shared information about Washington’s birthday and why it is sometimes called Presidents Day. She also offered interesting trivia about Washington’s life and some of the myths about him.
