Quilting Bees hold meeting

The Quilting Bees club met on March 5, at the First Presbyterian Church of Larned. Discussion was held on the Quilter’s Celebration to be held in early June. Announcements included the Parade of Quilts during the month of March in Yoder. Colleen Wolf critiqued hints from a Nancy’s Notion’s book donated to the guild library by Ann Hicks.  

Show and Tell participants were: Alice Clapsaddle, “Butterfly” quilt with custom quilting by Gina Janes and piecing by the guild members and 70-year-old seam swatches; Becky Obermiller, “She Came From Kansas” quilt in browns and natural tones; Melvina Prescott, “Quilt Cottage” block of the month quilt top to be finished for a granddaughter; Merlene Baird, “Trains” quilt for a young boy with borders quilted in a train motif and a lacy patterned quilt in bright colors; Ann Hicks, blue and white “Snowman” table runner and two blocks in yellow from Bossy Sister’s quilt block of the month.

The next regular meeting will be on March 19 with Diann Morell demonstrating “Ruching.”
