ELLINWOOD — Student Library Assistant Madison Dombroski focuses on Ellinwood High School seniors throughout the year to spotlight in the Check It Out column. Today we have two Senior Spotlights: Rella Ritterhouse and Nathaniel Joyner.
Rella’s family members are Sandra, Lyle, brothers Darren, Devin, Kaden, Trace, and sister Liz. She would recommend the book “To Kill a Mockingbird,” because it is really good, teaches you a little bit of history, and also keeps you entertained. Rella’s favorite quote is, “The last six years she has been sponsored by Red Bull and Monster,” by Rella Ritterhouse.
Something that she would say people would be surprised by is that she has 10 biological siblings and seven in her adopted family. Her advice for incoming students is that your GPA matters freshman year, don’t get behind, and work. Rella’s plan after graduation is to go to Barton for two years, then transfer to Emporia State, get her master’s degree in elementary education and then find somewhere to settle down and have a family. We wish Rella a great year in her senior chapter!
Nathaniel’s family members are Katie Joyner, James Joyner, and Madison Joyner. He would recommend “The Naruto” series since it is an easy read with a lot of lore and backstory behind it. His favorite quote is, “Either you run your day or the day runs you,” by Jim Rohn.
Nathaniel is involved in forensics and was involved in debate. He went to state in forensics a couple years ago. His advice for people becoming seniors is that it is okay to not understand everything you plan on doing after school ends, and it’s best not to worry about it; take it one step at a time. Nathaniel’s plan after graduation is to either go to KWU in Salina or K-State in Manhattan to pursue a career in acting and business. We wish Nathaniel a great year in his senior chapter!
