Vaughn A. Duncan of Great Bend will celebrate his 95th birthday with a Come and Go Party from 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 24, 2019, at Stoneridge Country Club, 1438 24th Street, Great Bend.

Vaughn was born on Aug. 29, 1924, in Garfield to Ray and Pearl Duncan. On Dec. 27, 1948, he married Ruthe Robbins of Larned. Ruthe passed on Dec. 8, 2001. Vaughn a 1943 Garfield High School graduate and a World War II European veteran, serving as a Tech. Sgt. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star.

Vaughn worked at Olson Blacksmith Shop in Garfield, Milhon Lincoln Mercury in Garden City, Trimo Roustabout in Pratt, Sauder Tank Company in Pratt and Great Bend, and Bovaird Supply Company in Great Bend.

Retirement finds Vaughn mechanicing, woodworking, traveling and enjoying grand and great-grandchildren. His children and their spouses are Stewart and Gayla Duncan of rural Hudson and David and Kim Duncan of Valley Center; grandchildren Jamie and Chris Baxter of Udall, Kynha Duncan and Ryan Cook, both of Kansas City, Brent Duncan and Tyler Duncan, both of Wichita, Jeremiah and Megan Duncan and Reilly and Kara Duncan, of rural Hudson, Angela Duncan of rural Carbondale, and Katie Ritz of Valley Center; great-grandchildren are Nora Duncan of Wichita, Landon Baird, Connor Duncan, Sophia Duncan and Collin Duncan, all of rural Hudson, and Emma Ritz and Owen Ritz of Valley Center. Son Steve Duncan and grandson Brandon Duncan are deceased.
