Witte graduates Naval nuclear program

Petty Officer, ETN3 Benjamin Donald Witte, a 2016 graduate of Great Bend High School, graduated from the Naval Nuclear Propulsions Program as an Electronics Technician on Nov. 2, 2018.

Witte attended A school and Nuclear Power School in Goose Creek, S.C. There he studied nuclear physics, electrical power theory, thermodynamics, nuclear theory and the math needed to operate a nuclear power plant. He then transferred to Ballston Spa, N.Y. for six months of hands-on training. Witte completed the program in 18 months and is now stationed on the USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77).

Marathon runner Tracy returns with presentation 'Keep Kids Safe Online'

Leading online safety speaker and marathon runner Ben Tracy will present “Keep Kids Safe Online” in two online presentations on Sunday, April 13, at Heartland Community Church in Great Bend. There will be a presentation for parents at 2 p.m. and one for students at 6:15 p.m. Tracy recently completed a run across America that included a stop at Holy Family School last October.
