MANHATTAN — Seven returning college students have each been awarded a 2018 CHS Foundation Scholarship through the Arthur Capper Cooperative Center and the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. Recipients are Jenna Crampton of Colby, a junior in agribusiness; Gracie Danner of West Liberty, Iowa, a junior in agricultural economics; Jenna Goetzmann of Gardner, a junior in agricultural business and global food systems leadership; Suzanne Huntley of Phillipsburg, a junior in agribusiness; Dean Klahr of Holton, a senior in animal sciences and industry; Sarah Niederee of Great Bend, a senior in agricultural economics; and Eli Ohlde of Clyde, a sophomore in agricultural economics.

Three freshmen were also awarded CHS Foundation Scholarships through the College of Agriculture at Kansas State University. Those recipients are Kinsey Harlan of Madison, a freshman in agribusiness; Kinsey Griffith of Wakeeney, a freshman in agricultural economics; and Kaitlyn Urban of Louisburg, a freshman in agribusiness. 

Sarah Niederee is active in student government serving as a College of Agriculture Student Senator and as Chair of the privilege fee committee. She also serves as a College of Agriculture Ambassador. Sarah completed a Kansas Food and Agricultural Policy Fellowship with Michael Torrey Associates in Washington D.C. and has interned with the Office of the Secretary at the Kansas Department of Agriculture. She also completed a Management Associate Internship with Cargill. Upon graduation in May 2019, Sarah hopes to pursue a career in management in an agribusiness or cooperative. The Niederee family is affiliated with the following cooperatives: Great Bend Cooperative Association and Wheatland Electric Cooperative.  

“The CHS Foundation Scholarships are one way the CHS Foundation is giving back to future agricultural leaders at Kansas State University,” states Professor Brian Briggeman, director of the Arthur Capper Cooperative Center. The scholarship has awarded over $157,000 in scholarships through the Arthur Capper Cooperative Center in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University since 2006.
