Starting around Monday, April 27, crews will resurface almost 14 miles of U.S. 281 in Barton and Stafford counties in a combined project totaling almost $2.2 million.
The entire work involves two sections of U.S. 281 that will be resurfaced:
• In Barton County, from the Stafford/Barton County line to the south city limits of Great Bend. The length is about 6.6 miles.
• In Stafford County, from the K-19 junction to the Stafford/Barton County line. The length is about 7 miles.
The project is expected to be completed around mid-June, depending on the weather.
During the work, motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Motorists should be prepared to stop for flaggers and a pilot car.
The Kansas Department of Transportation is overseeing the project.
Venture Corp., of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $1,074,716 project in Barton County and the $1,107,980 project in Stafford County.
