Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland will host a Sign Up for Scouting night from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Great Bend Public Library’s basement meeting room, 1409 Williams St. Girls in grades K through 12 and their parents are invited to attend. There will be activities for the girls from scouting’s new series: "It’s Your Story – Tell It!"

Shelly Chenoweth with Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland said adults are also encouraged to sign up as volunteers. "Girl Scout programs are only made possible by the efforts of our amazing volunteers," Chenoweth said. "We’re always looking for individuals who are willing to give a little – or a lot – of their time to help form future leaders. We have so many options to get involved."

Girl Scout representatives will be in communities and schools across Kansas in the next several weeks to share the benefits of scouting and make registration convenient for parents. Scout volunteers and/or staff will be available to answer questions and assist with registration.

Celebrating its 100th year of Scouting, Girl Scouts is a leadership development program for girls. It offers award-winning curriculum, and fun, enriching experiences, such as field trips, sports, skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges and environmental stewardships.
