The Great Bend Public Library is holding a craft supply drive. Items requested range from crayons and glue to Mod Podge (glue, sealer and finish) and scissors. Jennifer King, the Young Adult librarian, said the library offers a variety of craft programs for all ages. “Crafts are an indispensable method of promoting creativity,” King said.
Crafts are an integral part of programming in the  Children’s Department, said Eric Coulbourne, Children’s librarian. “They are a way to engage children and inspire creativity. It is one of the best ways to teach children that it is okay to express themselves in their own unique ways.”
The Teen Department also utilizes crafts to promote self-expression and creativity, King said. “In addition, crafts serve to improve self-esteem and leadership skills by having teens guide their peers through the steps.”
The supply drive will run through Sept. 8.
