Zoo educator to speak at historical society

Danielle Ricklefs, educator at the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo, will present the program at the next Barton County Historical Society meeting, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 24.
Ricklefs has a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology and a master’s in biological anthropology. She comes to Great Bend from the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita where she was education director. She also worked as a zookeeper at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita and as an education specialist at the Topeka Zoo. Ricklefs’ responsibilities at the Brit Spaugh Zoo include planning, organizing and implementing education content for zoo programs for all ages, updating curricula and teaching various education programs and presentations.
The program is free to the public. The Barton County Historical Museum and Village is located at 85 South U.S. 281, just south of the Arkansas River Bridge in Great Bend.
