Antique and collectibles appraisers to be in Ellinwood

ELLINWOOD — Two antiques or collectibles may be brought for appraisal the evening of Tuesday, March 3, starting at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, 103 North Main in Ellinwood. Certified antique and fine art appraiser Rick Casagrande will tell about appraisals and give verbal appraisals.
Those wishing to bring items are urged to call Casagrande at 620-564-2498 as soon as possible so research may bring a more accurate appraisal to the program. A $5 donation would be appreciated to the Ellinwood Community Historical Society, sponsor of the event.

Nature’s Bounty’ is next Stop ‘N Learn topic

A free Stop ‘N Learn program titled “Nature’s Bounty” will be offered at noon Wednesday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. Jean Aycock, Kansas Wetlands Education Center educator, will talk about the resources our ancestors on the prairie used for everything from dyes and medicines to food and shelter.


Community theater to hold ‘Dixie Swim Club’ auditions

Auditions for the Great Bend Community Theatre production of "Dixie Swim Club," a play by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jame Wooten, will be held Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. and Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. at the Crest Theater, 1905 Lakin Ave. There are roles for five women. Performances will be held April 19-22.

Humane Society plans bake sale for Saturday

Golden Belt Humane Society-Adopt-a-Pet will have a bake sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. until sold out at the grocery entrance at Walmart in Great Bend.
Proceeds from the sale of homemade items will benefit animals at the shelter that are undergoing medical treatment.
