Arrests made on drug, endangering a child charges
The Great Bend Police Department issued the following news release Friday afternoon:

CHARGES: Possession of Hallucinogenic Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Endangering a Child / Child In Need of Care

NARRATIVE:   On Thursday 10/17/2019, at approximately 1232 hours, Great Bend Police Officers were called to the Great Bend Middle School regarding a Narcotics Violation and a Child In Need of Care. At that time Illegal Narcotics were located and a Juvenile was taken into custody. The K9 Officer and Police K9 “Menta” were utilized to search areas of the school. Based on the information obtained during this investigation, Great Bend Police Detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for a residence located at 1227 281 Bypass in Great Bend, Kansas 67530. Great Bend Police Officers and Police Detectives executed the search warrant at 1227 281 Bypass in Great Bend at approximately 2:47 PM. Marijuana and items of Drug Paraphernalia were located and seized. DAVID LLOYD SMITH, W/M40, and KATIE MAXINE SMITH, W/F37, were arrested and transported to the Barton County Detention Center. Juvenile Services responded to the residence and took another Juvenile into custody. The investigation is still ongoing and the case will be sent to the Barton County Attorneys Office for review.
