Hands of Hope Rescue and Advanced America will hold a fundraising Barktober Dogs Days event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 22, at Advanced America’s Great Bend location, 2800 E. 10th St. There will have a pulled pork dinner with desert and beverage for $5. Dine-in and carry out will be available. They will hold a prize drawing for ar quilt and other items, along with many items that will be for sale.
In addition, there will be an agility course demonstration and a chance to let people try it with their own dogs through the course, as well as a short obedience class to help people learn to work with their dogs on basic commands.
Another activity will be a “nose work” exercise where dogs use their noses to find the treat hidden which is a fun learning tool.
Other activities will include free face painting, cotton candy sales, a Pooch Smooch Booth where people can get a canine kiss, a doggy Halloween costume contest with prizes for the winners and doggy trick-or-treat stations where they can do a trick for a treat.
Special guest speaker, Tiny Miss Midwest Braelyn Whittaker, will be there to promote her platform “Paws for a Cause” which promotes local and regional awareness of shelters and rescues.
Hands of Hope will also have some of their rescue dogs available for adoption there that people can meet and if interested, apply to adopt. All proceeds go to Hands of Hope Rescue for the medical care, food, and all necessities to care for rescue dogs.
