The early bird registration deadline for the Barton Foundation’s Ninth Annual Sporting Clay Shoot is April 8. Those who register before the deadline will get a chicken fried steak lunch and a camouflage hat at no extra charge.
Registration will still be $85 after the deadline, but the lunch and hat will not be included. Lunch will be prepared by Great Western Dining.
The money raised is used for Faculty Mini-Grants, which Barton faculty members can use to purchase items for their classrooms to enhance student learning experiences. The Foundation has awarded $119,644 in mini-grants to date.
The shoot is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24 at Camp Aldrich, 884 NE 110 Ave. in Claflin, featuring a 12-station course that complements Camp Aldrich’s landscape. A side game of flurries is also available, which offer participants the opportunity to compete among themselves. The last shooters must start the course by 3 p.m. Prizes are awarded to the top man, top woman and top youth shooter as well as to the top team of three.
Registration includes 100 sporting clays, prizes for the overall winners and Lewis Class winners and chance drawings for gifts. The fee does not include shells, and shooters will need to provide their own. Shooters can bring their ATVs and golf carts.
Those interested can register at clayshoot.bartonccfoundation.org.
