BCC, area cities to host blood drives

Barton County residents will have several opportunities to donate blood this month, starting with a drive from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at St. Rose Health Center, 3515 Broadway Ave., Great Bend.
Barton Community College will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13 in the Technical Building in room T-186, the Case New Holland Training Building.
Ellinwood’s blood drive will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 at the St. Joseph Parish Center, 110 W. Second St.
Hoisington’s blood drive will be from 2-6:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Hoisington Activity Center, 1200 Susank Road.
Claflin’s blood drive will be from 1:30-5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 110 E Williamson St.
Elsewhere in the Golden Belt, Kinsley will have a blood drive from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Edwards County Fair Building, 1305 S. Niles St.
According to the American Red Cross, on any given day, an average of 38,000 units of red blood cells are needed in the United States. There is no substitute for human blood. It cannot be manufactured.
