Last December’s vandalism at the Claflin Cemetery remains unsolved, and Crime Stoppers of Great Bend and Barton County are asking the public for help solving the case.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday it is seeking the public’s assistance in solving what Sheriff Brian Bellendir called, “a senseless crime” at the Claflin Cemetery. On Dec. 24 or 25, 2021, unknown persons damaged approximately 14 headstones and the fence at the cemetery. Evidence suggests a vehicle was used to run over tombstones. The resulting damages are several thousand dollars, Bellendir said.

Anyone with information about this crime or any other crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 620-792-1300 or 888-305-1300.
