Unified School District 428 accepted the invitation from Be Well Barton County to participate in Bike to School Day as part of the National Bike Month campaign Wednesday. To encourage participation, Be Well Barton County provided each elementary school with two T-shirts for a giveaway in their building. Above, the Walking School Bus at Park Elementary welcomed students on wheels in celebration of Bike to School Day. Below, Jefferson Elementary student Samantha Negard welcomed the reprieve from rain as she biked to school. On Monday, the Barton County Commission proclaimed May as Bike Month. Bike to Work Day is May 17.
