An afternoon and evening of fall games and fun in Jack Kilby Square has a serious message behind it. The “Break the Silence Fall Festival” reminds us that domestic violence affects everyone, sponsors said.

The festival will run from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. It is organized by the Family Crisis Center and community partners as a way to stand with survivors against domestic violence.

Fun features include bounce houses, corn hole, yard Jenga, scarecrow crafts, disc golf, life-sized Candyland, fall photo booth, raffle prizes, pumpkin painting, face painting the Great Bend High School cheerleaders and guest appearances by GBHS football players.

There will also be food trucks and booths by community sponsors.

Later in the evening there will be live music and an Empower Walk around the square to show solidarity and empowerment for survivors of all kinds of abuse. Members of the community are invited to pin a ribbon on a wreath in honor of someone they love or for their own strength in surviving an abusive situation.
