Dem candidate Laura Kelly coming to Ellinwood


ELLINWOOD — The public is invited to meet and greet Laura Kelly, candidate for governor, when she visits Ellinwood on Saturday, Oct. 27. She will be at the Historic Wolf Hotel from 10-11 a.m. Coffee and a walking brunch will be served.

The public is also invited to bring non-food items to donate to Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas. The event is sponsored by the Barton County Democratic Party.  


Veterans luncheon planned


Prince of Peace Parish will provide a Veterans Day Luncheon on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the St. Rose Auditorium, 1412 Baker Ave. Veterans will eat for free. Hosts will serve pot roast, mashed potatoes, corn, salad and dessert from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Freewill offerings will be accepted for Kansas Honor Flight.


GBFD selling annual Spaghetti Feed tickets


Tickets are on sale for the 14th annual Spaghetti Feed sponsored by the Great Bend Fire Department’s Social & Charity group. Serving will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Columbus Club, 723 Main. Admission is $7; children 5 years old and younger eat for free.


‘Boys in Blue Jeans’ recital announced


The Central Kansas Piano Teachers League will present the “Boys in Blue Jeans” piano recital at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College.

The instructors will present their male students who represent a wide range of ages from very young to high school age. The students will play a program of varying levels, styles and periods of music from early beginning to advanced.

The public is invited to attend the recital. Admission is free.
